The Natural Benefits of Lemon Myrtle Oil

Lemon Myrtle is an indiginous plant to Australia and has a scent that has been described as ‘more lemony than lemons’! Citral is the aroma compound found across a range of lemon-scented plants, including lemons. Lemon Myrtle has a citral rating of between 90-98%, compared to that of lemons, which rates between 2-5%.

Lemon Myrtle oil is used in an oil burner to release an invigorating and revitalising lemony scent which boasts wonderful mood-lifting effects. As well as that, it helps clears the air of the most stagnant of rooms, leaving a light and refreshing presence.

Citral is valued for its strong anti-microbial properties and is more highly regarded than Tea Tree oil. For this reason, it can be useful during times of colds, flu’s and chest congestion. People with Molluscum Contagiosum have found it very beneficial.

Its active ingredients are found in soaps, body care products, surface sprays, air fresheners and cleaners. If you are looking for a natural, chemical-free cleaner, citral oil is ideal. It can even be used in vacuum cloth bags and added to car screen washes.

As is the case with most essential oils, please dilute with a carrier oil if applying topically to the skin.
